Why are We Complacent?
The need for vaccination do not cease to exist when a person reaches his adulthood. It is because our body’s immune system is not capable of fighting against certain less known Bacteria and Virus.The probability of getting affected from these less known diseases is low and this leads to the complacency from getting vaccinated. Lack of awareness about diseases which require life long vaccinations is also a primary reason for complacency.

Role of Elders in the Family: It is the responsibility of the family members to lead by example. They should increase their awareness about vaccination and its significance in recent times and get vaccinated. They can clear their personal prejudices and motivate the children to get vaccinated instead of applying coercion. An yearly vaccination of the family members religiously, irrespective of the age group should be the norm of every healthy House hold.
