In a ten hours surgery a 14 year old girl got her liver tumor removed in Kasturba hospital, Manipal, India.
The tumor weighed more than 2.5 kg. The operated girl is recovering in the hospital. The surgery was done after the doctors found a tumor in the right lobe of her liver.
The liver tumor is a rare case in children. Doctors say there might be a few cases of liver tumor in children but this might be one of the biggest tumors found so far.
As per doctors, the girl will take about two months to recover completely. She can lead a normal life after the recovery because the liver has a character to rebuild itself. The doctors also said that the surgical removal of the liver will give a long lease of life to the patient.
